Jess Jason

Jess has been running since she was 12 years old, when her parents enrolled her in Hamersley
Little Athletics in Perth. From the very first race, she was hooked - running fed her competitive
drive and helped her channel her endless energy. Over the years, she dabbled in other sports
like surf life-saving and hockey, but running always had her heart.

Her journey took her through track and road running, where she discovered her speed and
endurance, before making the leap to trail running in 2023 - an experience that completely
reshaped her perspective on the sport.

As a road and track athlete, Jess achieved several notable milestones, including a 2:45
marathon debut, placing 6th female at the 2022 Melbourne Marathon, a PB of 1:18:24 at the
2022 Gold Coast Half Marathon, and PBs of 17:01 (5km) and 36:12 (10km) on the track.
Since transitioning to trail running, she has found a new passion, securing 1st place at the 2024
Hounslow Marathon (43km, 2500m+/-), 1st place at the 2024 Ultra Trail Kosciuszko 30km, and
earning the honour of representing Australia at the 2024 Asia Pacific Trail Running
Championships in South Korea, where she placed 7th in the 40km Short Trail.
Trail running has made Jess stronger - not just physically, but mentally. It has taught her
resilience, patience, and the importance of embracing the process. Despite her love for the
trails, she still has a deep appreciation for road and track racing, having been fortunate enough
to train alongside some of Australia’s best athletes.

Coaching & Training Philosophy
Jess’s coaching philosophy is built on experience, adaptability, and balance. She has trained
across different states and environments, learning from some of Australia’s most respected
coaches. In Melbourne, she worked under Olympic-level 800m/1500m coaches, unlocking
speed she never knew she had, and gained invaluable marathon insights from a top-tier coach
who guided her to a strong debut. Her years in Perth taught her how to handle long-distance
training in extreme heat, adjusting for external factors that impact performance. Now, based in
Canberra, she continues to train in a high-performance environment, refining her approach to
coaching and training.

Beyond running, Jess works full-time and understands the challenges of balancing training with
study, work, and life commitments. She knows the importance of adapting training to fit into a
busy schedule and recognising when recovery needs to take priority. Through trial and error,
she has learned that consistency - not perfection - is the key to long-term progress.
Whether an athlete is looking to improve on the track, road, or trails,
Jess is passionate about helping runners of all backgrounds unlock their full potential in a way that fits their lifestyle. Her approach is guided by what works - not just in theory, but in practice - from her own journey as an athlete and her experiences training under some of the best minds in
Australian distance running. She is committed to helping others reach their running goals while keeping the joy of the sport alive.

When she’s not running or working, Jess can be found taking her Manchester Terrier (her baby)
for walks, chasing the sun at the beach, or on a never-ending quest to
find the best vegan croissant in town.
