Karinna Fyfe

Marathoner

2021 Victorian 8k Cross Country Champion

Australian Representative (World Uni & Oceania XC)

Karinna has been embedded in the running community since starting Little Athletics as a toddler! She showed talent as a junior, representing her state of Tasmania in cross country and track events ranging from 400m up to 3000m and picking up a few national medals along the way.  As a senior athlete Karinna has focused on road running and cross country with distances ranging from 5km up to the marathon.  She represented Australia at the 2014 World University Cross Country Championships in Uganda and has represented Victoria in the Australian Half Marathon Championships in 2012 and the Australian Cross Country Championships in 2014 and 2015.  She is also a familiar face around the fun run scene with podium finishes in popular events such as The Great Ocean Road Half Marathon, Puffing Billy Great Train Race, Melbourne Marathon 10km and Run Melbourne Half Marathon, just to name a few.

Karinna understands the challenges of juggling study and work commitments and training – having completed a medical degree, PhD and entered full time work as a junior doctor all whilst also training and competing at a high level.  As a coach, she will support her athletes to find a balance between training to achieve their goals and maintaining other life commitments.

Karinna’s training philosophy focuses on consistency and enjoyment.  Remaining injury free is a huge factor in achieving success in running and Karinna understands the importance of managing training loads to achieve this.  She also appreciates that running is about so much more than just hitting your goal times and aims to keep training enjoyable and fun.
